Tish and Snooky Bellomo are legendary ladies of St Mark’s Place, famously known for their brand of brightly colored hair dye, Manic Panic, and also for their musical contributions. In New York City in the late 1970s (and after), the sisters were part of punk rock band the Sic F*cks, who played their trashy style of glam punk at CBGBs, Max’s Kansas City, and elsewhere. The Sic F*cks were one of the earliest of the CBGB punk bands, formed by infamous scenesters Tish and Snooky after their stint as backup singers in Blondie, along with lead singer and songwriter Russell Wolinsky. The Bellamo sisters opened their Manic Panic boutique in 1977 and it became another hangout for the burgeoning New York punk scene. Between the store and the band, Tish and Snooky became the it-girls of the Lower East Side, hanging out with the boys of the Ramones, Television, and the Dictators, among others.
