A New School of Jazz All-Star Faculty Concert with Special Guests

55 West 13th Street, 5th Floor Jazz Performance Space, NY, NY 10011
The Village Trip festival features a New School of Jazz program at the school's main performance space on West 13th Street - presenting a very special all-star faculty concert with additional guest artists and members of the student body joining in.ย In 1986, the New School created a radical program: to begin a college where the worldโs leading professional jazz musicians would teach their art in a sustained degree curriculum. Legendary musicians like Reggie Workman, Linda May Han Oh, Mary Halvorson, Jane Ira Bloom and more are faculty and mentors to the rising jazz artists of tomorrow.
New School Jazz is now one of the top-rated university level jazz programs in the nation.ย Alumni of New School Jazz include: Peter Bernstein, Brad Mehldau, Robert Glasper, Roy Hargrove, Virginia Mayhew, Bilal Oliver, Marcus Strickland and many others.ย (The final line-up will be announced very shortly).
NYC saxophone legend Roy Nathanson will join the New School of Jazz ensemble as a special guest. Roy's band the Jazz Passengers are NYC jazz/pop music legends, performing and recording with star artists such as Debbie Harry, Elvis Costello, and Marc Ribot.
