Julian Hornik is a composer, lyricist, and librettist based in Brooklyn whose shows include Assisted with Adam Chanler-Berat (developed with The Civilians, Berkeley Rep, and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat); Three Days with Mark Sonnenblick and Khiyon Hursey (Stanford, Vineyard Arts); The Painter and the Thief (NYSAF); Deathbed Edition (Ars Nova, Bedlam), Tenn (Yale), and @QueerZ, commissioned by the SF Gay Men’s Chorus. Film/TV credits include Share (A24) and animated musical series Helluva Boss.
Julian is the recipient of the Jonathan Larson Grant from the American Theatre Wing, the Lucille&Jack Yellen Award, the Sammy Cahn Award from the ASCAP Foundation, and the Bryan Gallace Fellowship from SPACE on Ryder Farm. He is an alum of the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project, the Orchard Project Greenhouse, and Yale’s Shen Curriculum. He has performed his work at Joe’s Pub, The Kennedy Center, New York City Center, and Carnegie Hall.
