Roy Lichtenstein Studio and Home Tour

September 19 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

Free
Roy Lichtenstein Studio (Max Touhey)

Take a tour of artist Roy Lichtenstein’s former studio and home on Washington Street in the West Village. Donated by the artist’s wife Dorothy Lichtenstein to the Whitney Museum, the 9,000-square-foot building was recently renovated by the architecture firm Johnston Marklee and is now the home of the museum’s famed Independent Study Program, which has supported artists, curators, critics, and historians since 1968. The building is the ISP’s first permanent home.

The Lichtenstein studio is not usually open to the public, so this is a special opportunity to explore the place where one of the 20th century’s most important artists created many of his seminal works of Pop Art. The tour will be led by Nick Holmes, the Whitney’s Legal Counsel and a person who was instrumental in the renovation of the building.

The number of visitors is limited to 25. Please be considerate of others: If you book a ticket and can’t make it for any reason, let us know so someone else can take your place.

This event is FREE. If you are able to support The Village Trip, your donation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
