Jesse Rifkin’s tour examines the fabled Greenwich Village folk music scene of the 1940s, ‘50s, and early ‘60s, while largely ignoring its most famous participant, Bob Dylan. Instead, it will explore both the flourishing scene that predated his arrival, and the transformations that emerged in his wake. We’ll see venues, homes, and album cover locations relevant to artists like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Dave Van Ronk, Peter, Paul and Mary, Phil Ochs, Alan Lomax, Jean Ritchie, Alix Dobkin, Fred Neil, and Buffy Sainte-Marie.
