Bringing It All Back Home to Washington Square – Free Concert in the Park with Bobby Sanabria and His Multiverse Big Band
September 25, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
Free
A musical activist whose debut recording was nominated for a Grammy, the first of many, Bobby Sanabria is a polymath whose musical lineage reaches from the South Bronx, where he grew up and still lives, to the Village, where Latin jazz has a long and rich history, notably with Art D’Lugoff’s Salsa Meets Jazz concerts, for years a fixture at the Village Gate. Bobby Sanabria played with all the greats, among them Mario Bauzá, Dizzy Gillespie and Mongo Santamaría, before forming his own band, its name inspired by Octavía Paz’s novel Multiverse.
Featuring special guests, including Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer.
No tickets needed – just grab your dancing shoes and shimmy on down to Garibaldi Plaza in Washington Square Park for an afternoon of great music and good fun!
The concert is free, though the musicians and crew are paid. So if you are able to support The Village Trip, your donation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
