Ann McDermott has been a licensed tour guide since 2019 but she’s been a music fan since the mid-1960s. She bought her first 45, “Going to the Chapel” by the Dixie Cups on Carmine Street at “House of Oldies” on a trip with her big brother from Brooklyn in 1965. She’s been visiting Greenwich Village and its many musical venues for most of her life and at one point worked in the music business in the late 1970s. When the pandemic hit, someone suggested writing a tour about something she knew a lot about and that thing was music in the 1970s. She is currently a member of the Board of the Guides Association of New York and loves showing people around her hometown.
